Biogas 21 – Project 2

Project Description

Solar 21 Renewable Energy Ltd has secured the project rights to develop a portfolio of four biogas plants throughout England. All plants in the portfolio are similar in scale; each one producing in the region of 4 million cubic metres of biomethane gas, enough to supply 2,600 homes.

Having met key criteria defined by the asset management team and having been approved by the investment committee at Solar 21, one of the plants from the development portfolio will move forward as Solar 21’s second biogas project.

Government-Backed Revenue

Biomethane-producing plants are eligible for the non-domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).

Under the non-domestic RHI, the UK government will pay eligible installations an incentive per cubic metre of biomethane and MWth (megawatt thermal) of heat produced. Payments will be index-linked for 20 years.
