Brian Tiernan is Ironman

Our Senior Analyst Brian Tiernan is competing in his first ever Ironman on 23rd of September and we are proud to sponsor him on his adventure.

Ironman Italy-Emilia Romagna, which takes place around Cervia in the Emiglia Romagna region, will be a feat of endurance. Brian will have to swim 3.8km in open water, cycle 180km and then run a marathon!

Brian only started doing triathlons in 2014 but since signing up a year ago, he has made up for lost time, as his podium finish at the Dublin City Triathlon last weekend showed. Brian was thrilled to come third in a time of 1:10:51, approximately half an hour quicker than Ireland’s Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar TD.

Brian’s training is very much a part of the day job – he frequently cycles or runs to or from work (a 20km trip) and pops out for a lunchtime run with colleagues from Solar 21 and Clear Financial.

We wish Brian all the very best on 23rd September. You could say he is building up stamina for an even greater endurance test – being a dad. Brian and his partner Irene are expecting a baby in October!
